The decisions of the FIS council: the assignment of the 2025 World Cup will take place on 3 October

In addition to the evaluation of the world championships in Cortina, today's meeting of the international federation approved the calendars of the World Cup, albeit among a thousand unknowns.

The FIS council that concluded the week of video conference work, officially taking note of the request to move the World Championships in Cortina from 2021 to 2022 (it will be decided as known on July 1), has also defined other aspects towards the next season and not only. After the confirmation of the World Cup calendars, both for the 2020/21 and long-term vintage with the reintegration of Wengen for 2021/22 and 2022/23, there are clearly doubts related to the pandemic that could condition the entire circuit, even if the FIS said it was confident that it could start at the end of October in Soelden (24-25 October for the two giants on the Rettenbach) and set up a task force to manage the various situations. As for the parallel, with the new format that will bring to the final phase (from the round of 16 onwards) only 16 athletes who will then challenge each other in rounds of return, there is the further variation of the cancellation of a double category in the discipline, that is parallel slalom and parallel giant. No more PSL or PGS, therefore, but "parallel" using giant materials and on the wave of what is seen in the parallels of Sestriere and Chamonix, just to give an example. If the junior world championships will be held in 2023 in Sankt Anton, the fate of the 2025 senior World Championships will be decided on 3 October (by video conference or not we will find out by 1 August). In the race, we remember, Garmisch- Partenkirchen, Crans-Montana and Saalbach, with the Austrian resort that seems to be the favorite at the moment.
