The Piedmontese candidacy has long been made official, Roland Demetz confirms the will to try it with the support of the Corvara administration.

A double Italian proposal? It is very likely. We are talking about the 2029 edition of the Alpine Ski World Championships, which will be officially assigned in May 2024.
Two years to present the candidacies, but as I know one is already official and it is Sestriere, which would like to bring the world championship event back to Colle 32 years after those magical days of 1997. However, the idea of a project comes up Val Gardena with important support, but not from Alta Badia. The "no" in the race to the project that emerged from the Municipal Council of Badia, which met a couple of days ago, is news of the past few hours; 10 votes against 18 and the words of Elide Mussner, councilor for tourism of the Municipality of Badia. “We want to encourage sustainable tourism: we don't want to say no to the World Cup, but to say yes to the environment, to focus on quality and not quantity”.
And then, alongside the Gardena project to bring the World Championships back to South Tyrol 59 years after the only edition (that of 1970) hosted by Val Gardena, here comes the Corvara administration, which has approved the unanimously the proposal of a candidacy together with the "neighbors". The mayor of Selva, Roland Demetz, confirmed to Rai Ladinia the will to continue with the project.
After Cortina 2021, the World Ski Championships will be staged in Courchevel Méribel in 2023, then in Saalbach in 2025 and, for the 2027 edition of which we will discover the host location in a year, the race is four with the candidacies of Crans -Montana, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Andorra and Narvik.
