This is the program that awaits the giant Italian national team, led by the newly appointed manager Roberto Saracco, assisted by an experienced technician like Giancarlo Bergamelli, leaving for Ushuaia on Monday 26 August.
While downhill skiers and slalomists will return to Italy on September 16th, Andrea Ballerin, Giovanni Borsotti, Federico Liberatore, Tommaso Sala, Hannes Zingerle and Alex Vinatzer, with some specialists among the rapid gates aggregated precisely to the group of gigantists, will work on the Argentine snows until September 23rd. Together with them, there will obviously also be Luca De Aliprandini, who is already at Ushuaia having anticipated the start in the company of the slalomists, not later than last Wednesday.
RACES A MOUNT HOTHAM
The tribolatissima Australian trip has finally ended, with various blues expected to be protagonists in Mount Hotham, in the first leg of the Australian New Zealand Cup 2019.
After four days of only postponements, the boys were finally able to compete in a race, the giant that was successfully performed in the Italian morning for the Austrian Magnus Walch, winner of the Coronet Peak FIS ten days ago; at just 6 cents, here's the excellent 2nd place of the Swiss Daniele Sette, who preceded the other Swiss Semyel Bissig (at 35 cents).
And the blues? In fourth place, half a second from the winner, there is a Daniele Sorio who confirms himself at high levels after the podium in New Zealand, while Roberto Nani (not physically at his best for an ankle problem) is placed 11th at 96 cents, with Stefano Baruffaldi 25th at 1 "59, Pietro Franceschetti 34th, the young Lorenzo Thomas Bini 47th and Alex Hofer released during the 2nd run.
The women also competed between the wide doors: after being able to play a couple of slalom the previous day, with successes (and a 2nd place each) for the New Zealander Piera Hudson and the French Josephine Forni, the girls took part to a giant that has given the success to the American class' '98 Storm Klomhaus, literally dominant with 1 "07 of margin on the Swiss Vanessa Kasper and with 2" 56 on the same Hudson. There was no blue in the race, as was the star Alice Robinson who had already won at Coronet Peak.
Now the Australian New Zealand Cup is ready to return to its New Zealand location, for a series of races that, from August 26th until September 2nd, will include two super-g, two giants and two slaloms for men and women.
