A tragedy for Canadian skiing: 22-year-old Mikayla Martin died after a mountain bike accident

Great promise of the movement, it had passed to its new discipline immediately obtaining great results.

Mikayla Martin was now a certainty in the panorama of the ski cross, immediately able to get important points in the World Cup, in the first real season of the circuit ended last spring, with the participation also in the world championship in the United States. It was a real tragedy, the one that hit Canadian skiing: the 22-year-old from Squamish died following an accident, which occurred October 1, on her mountain bike during a training session. The North American federation communicated this, with Team Ski Cross literally shocked by the news, a few weeks after the start of a vintage that could have brought Mikayla to the top. The young Canadian had gone from alpine skiing, which she had practiced since she was very young, to ski cross in the 2016/17 season, arriving in less than two years to appear in the national team and then up to the World Cup. Now it's all over in the most tragic way.
