The Val di Fassa is now permanently entered into the "round" of the FIS races also in the world of alpine skiing, gathering unanimous support for the organization of the junior world championships, last February, and the various Cup competitions Europe proposals in recent years.
Now, however, there is a clear goal in the minds of the men who drive the organizational machine; during a meeting to thank the more than 500 volunteers who took part in the World Championships that saw Alex Vinatzer triumph in the men's slalom, the executive president of the organizing committee, Davide Moser, did not hide. "We want to bring the World Cup to our territory, we know that this is an ambitious project, but we believe we have what it takes to make it".
In the short term, it could only happen in the event of some recovery, as Fisi sports director Massimo Rinaldi explains: "It is not easy to fit into the World Cup calendar, given that Italy already boasts four men's competitions (Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Bormio and Madonna di Campiglio) and two women (Cortina and now La Thuile). There are uncomfortable dates, such as that of the city event of 1 January in Oslo, for which availability could be given, but above all we must try to be ready within a week for any recoveries. It is necessary to invest in the plants, starting from the certainties represented by the European Cup competitions, which are organized every year and which will return in December 2019 â€.
The honorary president of the OC, Tiziano Mellarini, spoke about the plant theme: "The Aloch ski stadium must be completed with the upstream extension and the remaking of the competition parterre, according to the standards required by the FIS. The junior world championships have demonstrated the organizational skills of the Val di Fassa, we must continue pursuing the great dream, which will be supported by all the sports, political and administrative components ". In this sense, the President of the Province, Maurizio Fugatti, did not hide: "Faced with the will of a valley that has demonstrated organizational skills and unity of purpose, should the opportunity arise to enter the most important circuit in the world , the Province would not remain deaf, because the World Cup would be worth as an extraordinary visibility for the valley and for the whole territory of Trentino ".
