Once the world championships in Anterselva, the real topical moment of winter, have been archived, the Biathlon World Cup goes live. Three stages and seven individual competitions will in fact determine the winner of the crystal ball.

With a victory, a bronze medal and two other top 7 Martin Fourcade in Anterselva managed to defend the primacy in the general classification of the World Cup. However, for the transalpine champion, the road to the eighth crystal sphere is still long and full of pitfalls.
In the four races in fact Johannes Boe, despite some points thrown to the wind, has recovered the beauty of 21 lengths and now has in the sights the rival who precedes him in the ranking. Between the two litigants, however, we must not forget Quentin Fillon Maillet, protagonist of the world championships with two silver medals and third in the general classification.
When at the end of the season three stages and seven individual races are missing, net of the differences, Fourcade has a 38 point margin on the Norwegian, while Fillon Maillet has 65 lengths to recover. So if Johannes Boe were to win all the races from here to the end with Fourcade always second, the World Cup would take the road to Norway for the second consecutive year.
In this long final sprint, of the seven races scheduled, three are Sprints, two Chases and two Mass Start. The first weekend of March the World Cup will stop in Nove Mesto and then move north, first to Kontiolahti and then to Oslo for the grand finale. The schedule seems slightly favorable to Johannes Boe, who likes the Finnish race context and will be able to play three games in front of the home crowd.
In the meantime, Martin Fourcade has already conquered the Individual cup and is in command of the Sprint classification. The other two specialty rankings also speak French, with Fillon Maillet leader of Mass and the emerging Jacquelin at the top of the Chase.
