The Italian Cup of roller skis arrives in the land of Ferrari, with the “1st City of Maranello Skiroll Trophy”, scheduled for Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September. The two-day competition is organized by the A.S.D. Ski Club Olimpic Lama di Lama Mocogno, in collaboration with the CAE FISI committee - Regional Committee of the Emilian Apennines and the Municipality of Maranello. The competition will start tomorrow with the sprint race in free technique, valid as the 7th stage of the national circuit, which will take place near an exceptional location: the famous Ferrari Museum in Maranello where fans of the Prancing Horse can immerse themselves. in the history of Ferrari yesterday and today.
On Sunday, the second and last day of the trophy, the mass start race in free technique will be held, valid as the Absolute Italian Championships with the youth categories as protagonists. Hosting the competition will be the City Circuit in the artisan area of Maranello, right where the Ferraris are born. "Skiroll has Nordic origins: it was born in Scandinavia to allow skiers to train during the summer, when snow is scarce - says Federico Barbieri, Olimpic Lama president - The first road skis were produced in the Thirties and from there the roller skis caught on more and more, especially as a summer training for cross-country skiing, until it became a real discipline.
Today the roller ski allows our athletes to be busy all year round, also achieving excellent successes, and we are proud to be able to host an event like this ".
