With several weeks of delay, the final balance of the Lahti 2016 Nordic Ski World Cup was published. It has long been rumble of heavy losses, now confirmed by the organizers.

Overall, the event ended with a deficit of 1.6 million euros. The main reason is to seek out public audience, much lower than expected.
In fact, the organizing committee planned to sell 250,000 tickets. In reality, only 180,000 were sold.
This is a counterproductive figure compared to the other Nordic Ski World Championships that have recently been staged in Northern Europe.
It's enough to remember that the Oslo and Falun 2011 editions have turned out to be business. The event held in Norway 6 years ago earned more than 7 million euros. The Swede of a two-year period closed with a surplus of 4.9 million.
Unlike the nearby Scandinavian countries, Finland was not able to generate as much interest around the event.
