Lahti is a candidate to host the 2029 Nordic World Ski Championships

The Finnish town, after the successful 2017 edition, has made official its candidacy to host the world championship event, scheduled in seven years.

Scandinavia, after the 2027 Falun Nordic World Ski Championships, also aims to host the next world championship, scheduled for 2029. As reported by the official channels of the FIS, the city of Lahti with the ministry of culture and education, in addition to the owners of the Sallpuri Oy, they have found agreements with the Finnish ski federation and with the Lahti Ski club to be able to submit the candidacy to the FIS. The official proposal to the international federation came during the last FIS congress, which took place between 25 and 26 May in Milan. The organization of the event and the preparation of the candidacy will be mainly managed by the Finnish federation and by the consortium that manages the facilities where the world championships could be staged, the usual locations of the CdM stages of the different winter disciplines. The candidacy can be carried out until May 1, 2023, in the meantime the various bodies will start working on preparations for the possible world championship event, to bring the Nordic World Ski Championships back to Finland after twelve years.
