For the Swedish resort it would be the fifth Nordic World Skiing, after the editions of 1954, 1974, 1993 and 2015. The official decision by the FIS will be taken in May 2022.

After the Biathlon World Championships in Oestersund and the Alpine Skiing Championships in Are, both staged in the winter of 2019, Sweden wants another great event: in fact, Falun's candidacy to host the World Ski Championships has been made official Nordic of 2027.
"We are very happy that we were able to formalize this application together with the Falun Municipality." - said Ulrika Back Eriksson of Svenska Skidförbundet - "Anyone wishing to support our application can join the Beyond Skiing network, so that we can support many of our athletes. Such an event in 2027 would be a fantastic opportunity for everyone!"
If successful, Falun would become the home of the Nordic World Ski Championship for the fifth time, after the editions staged in 1954, 1974, 1993 and 2015. The FIS will decide in May 2022 to which location to assign the world championship event.
