Ted Ligety has decided: "I will go on two seasons, I want another Olympiad"

After having dissolved the reservations about the continuation of his career months ago (competing only in giant), the American champion announces the last goal, that of the fifth participation in the Games.

Ted Ligety fans can smile. We will still see his unique style on the tracks of the white circus for another two seasons, with the closing of the career set at this point in 2022. This is what the three-time world champion of giant announced (consecutively from 2011 to 2015), speaking to colleagues on skiracing.com. Not only a guaranteed 2020/21 season, as he had already said a while ago, pointing out that he will continue dedicating himself only to his favorite discipline, but also the following one with the Beijing Olympic Games and, perhaps, the world championships in Cortina. Ted wants the fifth participation in five circles before closing, after winning the combined gold in Turin 2006 and the giant one in Sochi 2014: "Yes, I will go on for two more seasons - confirmed the almost 36-year-old American champion - I will have to work a lot on a physical level, but I think I can manage the situation in the back and still be competitive. " In the 2019/2020 season, Ligety had started very well on "his" Rettenbach, with a nice 5th place in comeback, then only another top ten with the seventh place in Adelboden, while he does not get on the podium by the Garmisch giant of the January 2018.
