If the winter disciplines still have time to modulate the calendars and adapt to the Coronavirus emergency, the summer events deal with the first damage caused by the global pandemic.
Even the jumping Summer Grand Prix loses its opening stage: today the two days of Courchevel, scheduled for 7-8 August with a male and a female race, has been officially canceled, with the show that at this point (but obviously there are no certainties even for subsequent appointments) would start as per the original calendar in Wisla, on August 22-23 (one month later than in previous years), and then move from Chaikovsky to Hinzenbach in September, until final stage of Klingenthal in early October, with the women starting instead in Frenstat, in the Czech Republic, on August 15-16.
"Together with the FIS and the French federation, we have decided to cancel the summer GP for health reasons - confirmed Bruno Tuaire, director of the Courchevel sports club which has been organizing the event for 30 years, at Ski Chrono - welcoming from 8000 to 9000 spectators per day, we could not have brought together an audience lower than the norms established by the government until September (limit of 5000 set by Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, ed.). In addition, there was also the problem of managing the arrival of the athletes: it was not possible to guarantee the competition without the certainty that the protagonists could all be there ".
