A splendid first heat by Valentina Margaglio was not enough to allow the Italy of the skeleton to obtain a first historic podium in the World Cup. The success went to the Austrian Janine Flock, who on the home track of Igls showed a clear superiority over her rivals, 2nd place for the Dutch Kimberley Bos, always on the podium this season, third the German Jacqueline Loelling .
As reported in the title, Valentina Margaglio finished in 6th place: the result is very good, regret remains for the mistakes made in the second heat that prevented her from reaching a result on the podium, after the provisional 2nd place at the end of the first fraction. The other blue Alessia Crippa also did well, thirteenth.
The men's race, on the other hand, confirmed the hegemony of Latvian Martins Dukurs: the thirty-six year old from Riga dropped the season's poker by signing the best time in both heats. In 2nd place we find the British Matt Weston, who thus obtains the first podium in his career, after a 5th and 4th place obtained respectively in Sigulda and in the previous stage of Ilgs. The German Christopher Grotheer completes the podium.
For the Azzurri, Mattia Gaspari's fair test was 13th, while Manuel Scwaerzer closed the test in 17th place.
