Martins Dukurs wins the second seasonal race of the Skeleton World Cup. The thirty-six-year-old native of Riga obtained his fifty-sixth career victory in the top circuit, dominating the race and repeating the success of last week, which also arrived on the Sigulda home track. Second place for Martins' older brother, Tomas, who crowned the fantastic day at Dukurs; third the English Marcus Wyatt, who brings the United Kingdom back to the podium after a long time.
At home Italy, forced to give up Amedeo Bagnis, who suffered some physical problems this week, Mattia Gaspari closes 13th, thanks to a first heat marked by several errors that did not allow him to reach the top 10.
In the women's race, the Austrian Janine Flock dominated, who confirmed herself as the winner in Sigulda after last week's success. Second place for the Russian Nikitina, author of an excellent performance in the push phase; the Dutch Bos (second consecutive seasonal podium for the Netherlands) and the German Hermann took third place ex-aequo.
The two blue in the race, Alessia Crippa and Valentina Margaglio, finished their test in 17th and 12th place respectively. The Crippa showed some progress in the driven part, while for the Margaglio, one of the best in the push phase, she lost the top 10 for a few too many mistakes.
Appointment in two weeks at Igls, a track appreciated by the blue colors, especially Valentina Margaglio, considering her skills in the push phase. All the races of the bobsleigh and skeleton World Cup 2020/21 season, plus the Altenberg 2021 World Cup, will be visible in the clear on Sportitalia (digital terrestrial channel 60) and on the Sportitalia app, downloadable from IOS and Android devices.
