Lomellina will host the next athletic meeting of the skeleton World Cup and European Cup teams, with the Italian national team engaged in Vigevano from Tuesday 13 to Sunday 25 July with six athletes. The technical director Maurizio Oioli has summoned Manuel Schwaerzer, Francesco Pellicani, Elena Scarpellini, Alessandra Fumagalli, Alessia Crippa and Valentina Margaglio, with the coach Andrea Gallina.
Meanwhile, Oioli takes stock of the situation on the start of the now imminent season and which will lead to the great goal of the Beijing 2022 Olympics. “The boys are working with great passion and will. It goes without saying that the next few months will be very intense and will culminate with the five-circle appointment, in which every athlete dreams of participating. Our goal is to qualify two athletes in the men's race and as many in the women's race, we know it will be difficult but we have the qualities to get there.
The athletic training part will end in September, when we will finally hit the track in Sochi for a week of testing. Then we will fly in October on the Yanqing Olympic basin and from mid-November until mid-January we will be involved in the eight stages of the World Cup, before preparing for the Olympics. It will be a great sprint in which we won't have the chance to catch our breath, but we are ready to face it ”.
