Germany makes the big voice in the home leg of the Luge World Cup held on the gut of Oberhof. Felix Loch dominated the men's race by beating teammate Johannes Ludwig and Austrian Johannes Mueller. This is Loch's forty-third career victory and is now within twelve wins of Armin Zoeggeler's record (55). Not a good day in Italy: the best is Dominik Fischnaller 6th, 11th instead Kevin Fischnaller. Further back Leon Felderer (19th) and Lukas Gufler (20th).
In the women's competition, another German stop: Dajana Eitberger triumphs ahead of Natalie Geisenberger, 3rd place for the Latvian daughter of art Kendija Aporjode. The blue are in trouble: the best is Andrea Voetter eleventh, Verena Hofer fifteenth, Marion Oberhofer twentieth, Nina Zoeggeler twenty-seventh.
The men's doubles saw the home couple Eggert-Benecken win, 2nd place for the Austrians Steu-Koller, another Austrian couple, Mueller-Frauscher, completes the podium. Good proof of the Italian team on a quantitative level: Ludwig Rieder and Patrick Rastner finished fourth, immediately behind them Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner, 7th place instead for Nagler and Malleier.
The Teutonic team completed the extraordinary weekend by also winning the relay, putting Austria behind them for just over three cents. The real news of the day is the historic podium of Poland, third ahead of Italy by just eight thousandths. The blue team lost the podium due to serious mistakes made by Andera Voetter and the double Rieder-Kainzwaldner.
