No races at Koenigssee in the 2021-2022 season

Too many damages caused by precipitation on the German gut; possible return starting from the 2022-2023 season.

Bad tile for the gut disciplines: next season we will not compete on the Koenigssee track. Yesterday we reported the news of the damage caused by the heavy rainfall of the last few days, which hit Germany and part of Belgium hard, and did not even spare the "Bayern Eisarena Koenigssee". The historic German facility, which for years has hosted the luge, bobsleigh and skeleton World Cup, was overwhelmed by mud flows, as well as numerous debris brought by the rains. Now the official status has also arrived: in the 2021-2022 season there will be no competition in Koenigssee. The return to the German gut should take place from the 2022-2023 season. This unfortunate event also forces the various international federations to rethink the calendars for the coming season, since the bobsleigh and skeleton World Cup stage was due to take place in December, while the luge World Cup stage was to start. 2022. Even the German national teams, which usually used the track for pre-season training, find themselves without an important base point for preparation for next season.
