Freeride Touring Crevacol Col Serena 2.544m

We return to the area of & rsquo; High Valley of Gran San Bernardo, in Valle d & rsquo; Aosta, little more & ugrave; 20 kilometers from Aosta and less than 10 from Switzerland to propose a real journey ski mountaineering / off-piste skiing or splitboard to deal with and without the & rsquo; help of ski lifts. It & rsquo; one of the more classic trips & ugrave; popular in the area that places its starting point exactly in the back parking lot in front of the ski lifts to the Cr & eacute; vacol in resort & agrave; Mottes to 1,650 meters.

After passing the viaduct of the Great St Bernard Tunnel we are immersed in a particularly scenic entering a forest not too dense and continuing along the right bank of the river. Overcoming some huts (Arp du Bois Desot) we continue along a stretch a bit & rsquo; pi & ugrave; pendant and you will reach a wide plateau, about 2,100 meters above sea level, which allows us to get out of the wooded area and see in the distance our goal, Col Serena. Here the eye moves inevitably to the right towards the & rsquo; extensive and impressive Costa Serena that ranks at over 2,700 meters above sea level, the slopes much more & ugrave; exposed and steep for which it must pay close attention, but can & ograve; give powdery snow for long periods. On the left, the silhouette of the head of Serena's 2,830 meters and the crest Corl & eacute; ans whose channels are an additional invitation that must be seized only after assessing the situation very well and this snow bulletins. Our ascent route is maintained or almost as & eacute; the center of the valley, and after about 400 meters in altitude, you reach the Colle from which a suggestive panorama shows us the valley of Planaval down to the Municipality of La Salle dominated by Big Roch & egrave; re (3,326 meters) and the chain of mountains s & rsquo; Upper Valley. As for the descent, according to present conditions is potr & agrave; opt for a line fianchegger & agrave; the track uphill to the left, facing the prevailing north-east, and then continue through the woods along the path followed & Outdoors; gone: here, sometimes, the snow can & ograve; keep in perfect conditions even late in the season. Macugnaga Monterosa

Macugnaga Monterosa
