Snowboard Cross World Cup: the men's qualifying phase sees three Italians in the top five, Bankes precedes the blue (fourth and fifth) in view of Friday's races, starting at 13.00.

An ok start for the snowboard cross blues in Montafon, with seven athletes of the ten registered who take their pass for the decisive appointment on Friday.
The second stage of the World Cup, the first European one on the Austrian snow, after the grand opening of Secret Garden (2nd Visintin, 3rd Moioli) still sees the Italian national team led by Cesare Pisoni ready to compete for the positions that matter.
Today's qualifications, in view of tomorrow's individual races (which will start at 13.00, live on Eurosport Player), followed on Saturday by the team test, have signaled an Omar Visintin back on the ball. First position for the South Tyrolean, who preceded Eliot Grondin by 7 cents, but in the top five we also find Lorenzo Sommariva (3rd) and Matteo Menconi, great 5th behind the winner of the last three crystal balls, the Austrian Alexander Haemmerle. Also Tommaso Leoni, 25th, did not make it into the final phase, instead Michele Godino, 36th, and Filippo Ferrari cut out by a fall and at the end 42nd.
Everything ok in Italy also for the big names in the women's sector, starting with Michela Moioli: fifth time trial for the Olympic champion, in a ranking commanded by the British and world champion Charlotte Bankes, with the very young Australian Josie Baff second and the Canadian Odine third, while in fourth position is Sofia Belingheri, 25 cents away.
She risked something by making a mistake in the first run Eva Samkova, with the cup leader who was then very fast and qualified as Francesca Gallina, 13th and third blue who we will see on Friday in the quarter-finals. Nothing to do for Caterina Carpano, excluded by a few cents with the 18th time.
