At 59 and after a long illness, a symbol of blue Paralympic sport is leaving. The moving memory of Emanuele Spelorzi.

In Vancouver 2010 he had dragged Italy one step away from a historic quarter-final. It is with deep sadness that today the Italian Ice Sports Federation announced the disappearance of Andrea Tabanelli.
Perugino, he was one of the pioneers of wheelchair curling in our country: he left us at the age of 59, after a long illness that has consumed him in recent years. His feats on the ice, those that recorded record ratings on TV at the Paralympic Games 10 years ago, are the best memory at a sporting level: Andrea soon became the darling of commentator Lucio Rizzica and his technical shoulder Alberto Pontara.
Member of a dream blue national team, also composed of Angela Menardi, Egidio Marchese, Gabriele Dallapiccola and Emanuele Spelorzi, Tabanelli was remembered by the latter, one of his historical traveling companions: "We have lost a great athlete and a great person. In Vancouver he was the soul of the locker room, we called him Captain even off the ice and this well underlines his charisma. With him all wheelchair curling started from Courmayeur, then spread to the rest of Italy. He left his mark ”.
