Switzerland beaten, then the knockout with the United States. For Italy the race towards the Olympic passes is tough

World Curling Championships in Calgary: one more victory and one defeat for the Azzurri, currently eighth and with access to the second phase more complicated.

A victory and a defeat for the men's curling Italy, on the fourth day of the World Cup in Calgary, Canada. In the Italian night just passed, the Azzurri, returning from the knockout against Japan, first redeemed themselves with a nice 4-3 to Switzerland, but then they had to yield to the United States for 8-2. After seven matches played, the balance of the national team in the world championship shows 4 victories and 3 defeats, with the provisional eighth position in the standings: the road that leads to the second phase of the tournament and the Olympic pass reserved for the best six teams of the tournament it is still passable, but certainly more uphill for Retornaz and his companions. Italy, descended on the ice with Sebastiano Arman (second, Aeronautica Militare), Mattia Giovanella (lead, CC Cembra 88), Amos Mosaner (third, Aeronautica Militare) and Joel Retornaz (skip, Pinerolo 2006), was formidable in the overtake Switzerland at the end of an extremely tight and hard-fought match. Against one of the most popular teams in the tournament, the Azzurri, after two void hands, went ahead 1-0 in the third end, then hung up in the next round. Then the hand stolen in the sixth end and the control of the Swiss comeback to impose itself with the final 4-3. Nothing to do instead in the comparison with the national team of stars and stripes, escaped from the beginning of the game to then close with the final 8-2.
