Biography: Elena Fanchini, born on April 30, 1985 in Val Camonica and sadly passed away in 2023, was one of Italy’s strongest downhill racers. She earned a World Cup win and several podiums, especially on demanding speed courses in North America and the Alps. For many years she represented Italy at the highest level, competing at World Championships and Olympic Games and serving as a key figure in the women’s speed team. She was admired for her determination, ability to overcome setbacks and her return to racing after serious health issues. Her sporting and human story left a deep mark on Italian skiing.
