Cl ment Noel ready for a new debut: on Saturday he will play his first giant in the World Cup

In Yuzawa Naeba a double commitment for the French champion: a debut postponed for a few months due to the back problems accused last fall.

A new debut scheduled for months, but postponed due to those troubles in the back that had made us fear even for the start of the season in slalom. Clément Noel was stuck in Ushuaia last September, losing many weeks of preparation and thus giving up on the project that should have seen the 22-year-old transalpine competing also in the World Cup giants. Now the right opportunity has come, after a very intense January with six slaloms, to try: on Saturday at Yuzawa Naeba, in fact, Noel will be at the starting gate of the Japanese giant, for the first time in the maximum circuit between the wide doors. The native of the Vosges has not participated in any of the European Cup races in this discipline, but in recent years he has nevertheless played many giants at the FIS level and his level is said to be more than good; the French champion trained in Sestriere last week, while his speed colleagues were busy in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, and he decided with the technicians to try in a weekend that will see him then protagonist on Sunday of a crucial slalom race, with the third to last specialty event that will see him looking for the red bib currently on Kristoffersen's shoulders, with only two margin points right on Noel. France will then deploy Saturday in giant Pinturault (winner 4 years ago in Yuzawa Naeba), Faivre (who came 2nd that day), Noel, Muffat-Jeandet, Favrot and Sarrazin, while in slalom there will be the same Noel, Pinturault, Muffat -Jeandet, Lizeroux, Grange and Buffet.
