It will be the edition number 23 at night, for the last classic slalom in January.
It took only a couple of decades to become perhaps the most awaited race, certainly the one with the greatest following in terms of audience: often 50 thousand and more, even if the slalom on Tuesday 28 January in Schladming, for the "night race" on the Planai , it may suffer the Hirscher effect.
The absence of the absolute champion in his temple (Marcel lives less than 40 km from there), which has sparked with the victories in the races of 2018 and 2019, in addition to the difficulties of the Austrian slalomists who have brought home so far a only podium with Marco Schwarz, will see a nation without its lighthouse, but the show will still be absolute.
Today the FIS has officially confirmed the race (the heats will be staged, as per tradition, at 17.45 and 20.45), after the usual snow check which gave positive results for an appointment that, under the spotlight since that 1997 that saw Alberto Tomba baptizing the "night race", always remains in the minds and hearts of fans.
