He does not give up, indeed.
He enjoys himself and despite his ailments he still wants to fight, who knows maybe up to what would be his fifth Olympic participation, in Beijing 2022.
Ted Ligety is an example from this point of view because, despite being an absolute and extraordinary champion in particular in "his" specialty, the giant slalom, and not getting results worthy of his fame for some time (last podium in January 2018, 3rd in Garmisch, last success dated October 2015 in Solden, still wants to have fun and entertain with its unmistakable style, even away from the races.
Just in these days, taking advantage of the opening that took place on June 7th, the Salt Lake City star is on the slopes of the Stelvio Pass: its movies with the GoPro camera are inevitable, but it is obvious that Ted is above all working in optical testing materials with Head, the house with which he conquered (since his arrival in 2010) his three consecutive giant world titles (in addition to the gold hat-trick in Schladming 2013), the 2014 Sochi Olympic gold and all the rest, including many of the 25 victories in 321 World Cup races.
In the last season, the best results respond to two eighth places in giant, won in the first (in his Beaver Creek) and in the last competition of specialty, in the finals of Soldeu. No other top ten or a few rounds have come to suggest the true Ligety, but Ted doesn't give up and still dreams of going back up there. If he fails, he will still have fun.
