The FIS will remove from the anti-doping regulation the norm on the prohibition of the use of oxygen to avoid a "Luitz bis"

After the sensational episode of the victory raised to the German and then reassigned by the CAS three months later, the international federation cautioned itself ... but the oxygen remained forbidden (in the race)

Stefan Luitz and the case that exploded last December, when the inhalation of oxygen (between the two runs of the giant of the World Cup in Beaver Creek) by the German led to the disqualification of the same, is still discussed. In the margins of the work concluded at the FIS congress in Cavtat-Dubrovnik, in fact, the international body had confirmed the ban on taking oxygen in the competition zone for any competition even in the 2019/2020 season. In reality, according to the German daily Augsburger Allgemeine (which asked the FIS about it, without receiving a reply), the prohibition rule will be removed from the anti-doping legislation and included only in the one related to the competition itself. It should be remembered that the WADA (world anti-doping agency) does not expressly prohibit the inhalation of oxygen, therefore the international federation will wriggle out in this way, to avoid other possible defeats like that of last March at the CAS of Lausanne, when Luitz was seen reassigned his first (and only) victory in the World Cup. The use of equipment to use oxygen will therefore be prohibited in the competition area (not in training, let us remember), but in this way the FIS should protect itself in the event of disputes and be able to disqualify, in the case, athletes who break the rule . Simply? We're not so sure ...
