Sunday, April 8th in Val di Fassa the winter sports season was closed and at the same time for the organizing committee of the Alpine Ski World Junior Championships the new challenge has officially opened, which will lead to the awaited world event reserved for the strongest athletes of the globe between the ages of 16 and 20.

From 18th to 27th February 2019 in the Ladin valley of Trentino 500 ski promises will compete, representing over 50 nations, the first major international experience in a competition whose mission is to officially dedicate sports talents. Event at Sala Don Guetti of Cassa Centrale Banca, has experienced a preview to present the news on site for the coming months, supported by the presence of two strong Fassa players Stefano Gross and Federico Liberatore, who climbed in the test event in December on an entirely Italian podium in the European Cup challenge.
President Davide Moser presented the planned initiatives and the important partnerships that have been initialed, also formalizing the official calendar of the event, replicating the format adopted in the latest edition of Davos, which allows for greater flexibility in case of recoveries competitions for adverse weather conditions. The first race in the program will be the giant female slalom (Tuesday, February 19), the last female downhill (Wednesday, February 27), no longer the classic closing with the special slalom challenges, which will be staged on Wednesday, February 20 the female one and Tuesday the 26th of February the male one. A total of 11 titles and 33 medals will be awarded on the two venues in Pozza di Fassa (Aloch track for slalom competitions, giant and team events) and in San Pellegrino (La VolatA track for free, superG and combined alpine runs).

The work set up to date and the future projects of the 2019 Junior World Championships have also been praised by the sports councilor of the Autonomous Province of Trento Tiziano Mellarini, the president of Fisi del Trentino Angelo Dalpez, as well as Carlo Vadagnini of Cassa Rurale Dolomiti di Fassa, Primiero and Belluno who also spoke in the name of Cassa Centrale Banca, while the Blues and Gross emphasized the value of this review.
"I grew up on the slopes of the Val di Fassa, on the Aloch in particular, - specifies Gross - a point of reference for me and for all my team mates. The track is always prepared for the best and this winter, after many years, also gave me the joy of victory in the European Cup slalom in December. The slope is ideal for hosting a high level race like the Junior World Championships, an event in which I took part. Unfortunately I missed the medal for a few cents, but it was the first event in which I breathed World Cup air ».
Also Liberatore illustrates the importance of the Aloch track: «This winter I had the honor to get on the podium together with Stefano in the European Cup slalom in the slalom played on Aloch. I have always skied on that slope, first with the Ski Team Fassa, for the Trentino Committee team, now with the national team. A difficult, demanding track that offers ideal conditions for a good workout in preparation for important events throughout the winter. My memory of the Junior World Championships? I took part in those of Sochi and it was a positive experience ».
The Sorastant of the Ladina School of Fassa Mirella Florian highlighted the partnership of the institute with the 2019 World Cup, which has already made a contribution with the work of its students to the design of the event logo and the mascot logo, as well as to have customized the parterre of competition in Davos with the creation of an ice statue, and that will also collaborate with the students of the linguistic and scientific high schools, as well as with the athletes - students of the Ski & Ice College Val di Fassa during the competitions.
The collaboration with the Anna Meyer Onlus Pediatric Hospital Foundation in Florence is full of significance, with the aim of combining an initiative linked to solidarity, a non-profit organization represented by the communication manager and initiatives Melania Mannelli.
The Val di Fassa is therefore ready to dive into a new challenge, also accompanied by a new mascot designed by a student of the School of local art and design, called Neif, which translated from the local Ladin language means "snow" and represents a bow with sticks in hand and skis on the feet. Project born from a competition of ideas with the Ladina School of Fassa, which saw as a winner Alice Stroppa, second classified Silvia Zorzi and third Mattea Capaldo.
PROJECTS AND PARTNERSHIPS
Many are the challenges that are ready to face the 2019 World Junior Championships, the international ones, but also the territorial ones, with the aim of involving all the realities of the Val di Fassa in the event, enhancing the local excellences. In the front row there will be the two reference ski clubs, or the Ski Team Fassa, which will take care of the technical aspects of the competitions on the Aloch track in Pozza di Fassa, then the Monti Pallidi sports union, which will follow the races at Passo San Pilgrim. Five ski schools in the Val di Fassa (Canazei, Campitello, Pozza di Fassa, Vigo di Fassa and Moena) will also play a valuable role and will collaborate directly with the technical organization. The contribution of Dolomiti Superski and the plant companies is also indispensable, as are the Val di Fassa Tourism Company, Trentino Marketing and the municipal administrations.
Partnerships were also set up with the Alpine School of the Guardia di Finanza, with the Gruppo Sciatori Fiamme Gialle, with the Alpine Training Center of the State Police.
Important sponsorship and supply agreements were signed with leading companies such as Dolomiti Superski, Cassa Centrale Banca, Cassa Rurale Dolomiti di Fassa, Primiero and Belluno and with Karpos providing clothing to volunteers and staff.
