Below is the commencement of the presentation of the Alpine World Junior Championships in the Val di Fassa and the junior juniors of speed skating in Baselga di Piné, both events will take place next February.

The day after the formalization of the Lombard-Veneto candidacy to host the 2026 Winter Olympics in the congress hall of the Coni of Rome, in the presence of the president Giovanni Malagò, Trentino presented the two world youth events that will be staged in the month of February 2019. From 15 to 17 February it will be up to speed skating with the 48th edition of the Junior World Championship in that of Baselga di Piné, then the next day, with a program that includes competitions from 18 to 27 February, it will be up to Val di Fassa to host the 38th edition of the Junior Alpine skiing World Cup.
Enthusiasm, dynamism and determination are the prerogatives of the two events illustrated in the press conference that saw the participation of the Senator Fassana Elena Testor, the president of Coni Trentino Paola Mora (the only woman who presides over a territorial Coni Committee in Italy), culture, cooperation and civil protection of the province of Trento Tiziano Mellarini, who is also honorary president of the Organizing Committee of Val di Fassa 2019, of the general secretary of Fisg Ippolito Sanfratello, of the councilor of Isu Sergio Anesi and of the two chairmen of the Organizing Committees Davide Moser for Val di Fassa 2019 and Enrico Colombini for Baselga di Piné 2019.
"Giving visibility to the events organized in Trentino - underlined Giovanni Malagò - is an honor for Coni. We are talking about a territory that has sport in the DNA and to which I am particularly attached, primarily because the chairman of the Trento Committee is the only woman in Italy, then because my first official appearance as president was in this province in occasion of the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013, and last but not least because we are talking about a land to which I am grateful for the sensitivity it has towards us and towards many sports federations. For this I have to thank the commissioner Tiziano Mellarini, the true ambassador of Trentino, a sportsman who for 14 years has been lent to politics. An organizational model that I always carry as an example, for the skills and the strength of the many volunteers. I am sure that both events will be a great success ».
In the two youth events will be competing the talents of the future, many of which will be present at the Olympic Games of 2026. Particularly interesting then the fact that the competitions of Val di Fassa will be strategic for the Winter Olympic Games in Lausanne 2020, seen that the final ranking for nations of the Trentino event will be used to form the participation quotas for the five-circle event. Furthermore, the team event organized in Val di Fassa on 22 February will decide the grid of the identical under 20 competition scheduled for 2020 in the Norwegian resort of Narvik.
The two chairmen of the organizing committees have highlighted how these World Cups represent an opportunity for valorization, but above all a starting point towards prestigious goals. Enrico Colombini does not hide that the dream would be to see inserted the ring of Baselga di Piné, which is also the FISG federal center, as the venue for the Olympic Games of 2026, considering that the structure is of a high standard and that it hosted 12 World Cup competitions. Davide Moser of Val di Fassa 2019 recalled that since 2006 the Ladin valley of Trentino is the official training center of the national Fisi of alpine skiing and every year on the Aloch slope of Pozza di Fassa (Sèn Jan in Ladin language) are hosted European Cup competitions and that thanks to the works of modernization and adaptation to the requirements of the Fis, the skistadium Val di Fassa, as well as the La Volata di San Pellegrino, could enter the most important circuit, perhaps with a female event.
