The 27-year-old from Garmisch-Partenkirchen returned to the white circus during his home races, but only competed in the downhill test on Thursday ("I'm not ready for a race yet," he said after training) before testing himself again on the " Kandahar 1 ”in a forerunner version. The sensations, about seventy days after the operation on the left hip, were still good and convinced the technicians to take him to Cortina, to taste the "Vertigo" in practice and then decide whether to compete on Sunday 14 February in the descent world champion.
Twelve DSV home athletes, including only three women. Without Viktoria Rebensburg, hopes are almost completely pinned on Kira Weidle, who has so far experienced a season that is not exceptional in speed, but can be dangerous on the Olympia delle Tofane. The second week of the World Championships will instead be that of Alexander Schmid, Stefan Luitz (in the pits for weeks, but the last training sessions went well), Sebastian Holzmann and above all Linus Strasser, the team's top slalomist and capable of two podiums in the season with the first victory of his career, even if it appeared to be on the decline in the last rounds of January.
