Under a heavy snowfall have been awarded the first Olympic medals in ski halfpipe, with the men's race. The medals went to the winners of the last three editions of the World Championships.

'' The gold medal went to the great pre-race favorite, the American David Wise, the reigning world champion and winner of the last three editions of the Winter X Games.
The 24-year Nevada has mortgaged the'' gold medal in the first run, closed at the top with 92.00, very high score if you consider the harsh weather conditions found by the freestylers. In the second run Wise has been a mistake, but that was irrelevant.
'' The silver goes to Canada thanks to the 2011 world champion Mike Riddle, who in the second run back from sixth to second place with a score of 90.60.
Bronze with Kevin Rolland of France (in 2009 and gold in Inawashiro second behind Wise quest'' year at the X Games) with 88.60'' nela first run scored three points more than the New Zealand Josiah Wells.
Among the disappointed was without a doubt the Canadian Justin Dorey, first in qualifying with a score of 91.60 but unrecognizable in the final, sadly closed at 12th place.
