The defense of continental bronze won a year ago failed to curling Italy.
On the Swedish ice, the blue adventure ends just a step away from access to the semifinals: decisive is the ko remedied in the match from inside or outside against Switzerland, solved at the last end after a stone by stone battle with the Swiss set for 7-5.
5 victories were not enough in 9 games of the first phase, given that the simultaneous victory of Denmark towards Germany, in a last chilling morning session in Helsingborg, was also fatal to the Retornaz Team; a real shame, given that Italy had shown that it could play for the medals zone, having lost clearly only the confrontation with the unbeaten Sweden.
The hosts will see each other tonight (at 7 pm) in the semi-finals against Scotland already beaten this morning, while the other match that will establish the second finalist will put Switzerland and Denmark in front.
