A combined that remains open after the speed test, but which sees two clear favorites from Switzerland.
The Swiss, after yesterday's victory in super-g with Ralph Weber in front of “Gugu” Bosca, dominate the first half of the Zinal alpine combined race, the second race of the triptych valid for the stage of the European Cup.
In front of everyone there is Justin Murisier, one who in this discipline has shown that he knows how to do it for years at the World Cup level: fresh from the two giants (in points) of Santa Caterina Valfurva, the 28-year-old from Valais placed the best time in the super-g heats, ahead of the Austrian Lahnsteiner by 19 cents, by 28 and 34 two sprinters like Kryenbuehl and Hintermann, by 39 Ochsner and with 45 cents of margin on the first blue, Florian Schieder, who will clearly have to defend himself among the narrow poles.
Paired in 7th place at 54 cents by two other Swiss, Gilles Roulin and Luca Aerni. The latter, combined world champion in Sankt Moritz 2017, is clearly the most dangerous man for Murisier, but there are also important podium chances for Giovanni Franzoni.
The 19-year-old from Brescia, already second in combined at Sella Nevea last February, in the Friuli leg of the European Cup, is 13th with only 71 hundredths behind the top and 17 from Aerni himself; considering its qualities in slalom, with the decisive heat scheduled at 12.30, it can be done.
