He died on the night at Orbassano's Hospital Giovanni Morzenti, president of the Italian Winter Sports Federation from 2007 to 2011. He was 66 years old.

Born in Vilminore di Scalve, in the province of Bergamo, on November 25, 1950, he moved to Fossano, in the province of Cuneoi. He was also the managing director of Lift, the company that manages the lifts of the Limone Piemonte White Reserve.
In 2011, at the end of a four-year full of controversy, he had to leave the chair of the FISI because of irregularities in the 2010 electoral assembly. In 2014, he was sentenced to four years and 7 months in prison for allegedly concussion.
Morgens had been hospitalized for just over two weeks and death would be caused by severe lung complications. Leave his wife and three children. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday morning in the parish of San Filippo in Fossano.
