Double Italian podium with Bertagno and Zamboni beaten only by Knapp, Lucchese 3rd in crazy women’s race

Three Italian podium finishes to bid farewell to Rettenbach in the giant slaloms that followed yesterday’s super-Gs on the Austrian track.

In the women’s top circuit, Eliska Rejchrtova has broken away after dominating today’s race, with the Czech star taking the win following Saturday’s second place. She prevailed by 1”33 over Austrian Tina Hetfleisch, while Lisa Anastasia Lucchese, despite conceding 4”15, claimed 3rd place in a truly crazy race, with only the three podium finishers reaching the finish line. Many big names went out, from Teynor to Abrahamova, along with the other Italians in the race: Federica Libardi, Nicole Mastalli and Gaia Cassone.

In the men’s race, World Cup leader Marcel Knapp made no mistakes: behind the German, two Italians finished at the front, with Michael Bertagno 2nd at exactly three tenths and Filippo Zamboni at 0”39, ahead of Stepanek and Daniele Buio, 5th in a classification that saw Nicolò Pettini finish 8th. Gritti, fresh from his super-G podium, Gasperini, Cerentin, Mastalli and Agostini went out in the 1^ run.

The next appointment with international grass skiing in Italy will be in the Tambre arena from 28 to 30 August, with FIS and Junior Cup races.
