And unfortunately, the Grass Skiing World Cup is going away for Edoardo Frau after only the first day of competitions in the Bergamo area.
In search of his seventh title, the 39-year-old from Asiago got into the slalom race valid for the super combined, won by his main opponent, the Czech Martin Bartak, who has thus stretched in the general classification in a probably decisive manner, with 170 points of margin. A real shame, given that Frau had finished 2nd in the morning super-g test, only 28 cents from the Swiss Portmann and in an ideal position to seek victory.
Well the other blue Lorenzo Gritti, who finished fourth, with a recovery of four positions after the speed test and ever closer to the 3rd final place in the general; seventh at the finish line Pietro Guerini, ninth instead Filippo Zamboni.
Among women positive result for Alessandra Manzoni, who came third with 3 "38 late from the usual Jacqueline Gerlach, the Austrian winner of the Cup in an arithmetical manner. Thanks to today's race, the woman from Lecco came off the standings from Alena Vesela (ninth), taking second place overall. The tests by Federica and Chiara Milesi were also good, coming in seventh and eighth respectively. Margherita Mazzoncini is disqualified instead.
The program of the Schilpario finals will continue on Friday with two slalom heats, at 10.15 and 14.15 respectively. Saturday instead there will be space for the giant, Sunday grand finale with the supergiant.
