The third stage of the season in the maximum circuit of grass skiing sees Italy get three podiums with two splendid successes at male level.

Lorenzo Gritti was in fact the authentic ruler of the weekend in Cortina d''Ampezzo, which hosted the World Cup for the first time with four slaloms, two for boys and two for women. The Vertova from Bergamo, after the success obtained on Saturday with a large margin, granted the encore ahead of the Swiss Mirko Hueppi by 60 hundredths at the finish line and the German Marcel Knapp by 60; for the specialty world champion it is the 11th pearl in CdM, while Edoardo Frau obtained another 5th place after the one in race 1, gaining some useful points in the general classification on the leader Martin Bartak, who left the scene in the 2nd heats. In the top ten of the day also Filippo Zamboni, excellent sixth, and Pietro Guerini who finished ninth. In the Cup overall, the Czech Bartak then commands with 530 points, but Frau returns to -80 with Portmann third to 195 points from the summit. Gritti, on the other hand, with his Ampezzo double is already fifth at 277. The women's races in Cortina smiled in the first case at the Cup leader, the Austrian Jacqueline Gerlach, then beaten on Sunday by the Czech Alena Vesela. After 3rd place on Saturday (second podium of the season), Margherita Mazzoncini finished fifth in Sunday's second slalom, just ahead of Antonella Manzoni (fourth Saturday) and Monica Ferrighetto. In the overall World Cup standings, Gerlach dominates with 660 points, followed by Kettnerova at 386 and Manzoni himself with 370 points. Next meeting with the World Cup of grass skiing after a nice break, with the recovery scheduled for August 25 to 27 in Dizin, Iran.
