Ted Ligety on his official website tells us about his month of training in New Zealand, much more profitable than in the giant slalom, is now home to rest before going to Chile to prepare in speed. Here is the translation of what he wrote the three-time world champion Schladming:
"I'm back at home several days ago after nearly a month in New Zealand. I train there for nine years with the team. New Zealand is one of my favorite places in the world. Skiing is not always fun but enough to do workouts profitable on winter snow. The really nice thing is that you can also play golf or tennis or go hiking. As in most of these years we spent most of our time in training zone Queenstown to Coronet Peak. This session is always important to understand the things in our materials and testing equipment. Alex Martin, my technician, brought more than 70 pairs of skis this year''.
Quest'' year we ventured to Round Hill near Lake Tekapo'' to begin training. It was my first time at Tekapo, so it was nice to see something different. Round Hill is perfect to get back on snow since the slope is pretty sweet.
After a week at Lake Tekapo we headed back to Queenstown and Coronet Peak. I focused mainly on the slalom. Quest'' c'' year has been a particularly bad snow so our training options were more limited, however the'' training in giant has always been on extremely steep slopes which is good but it is not the'' ideal to understand new things about technique or materials. The slalom d'' on the other hand was very productive, I felt I had made some progress technically and also understood some things on the materials.
Now that I'm home I can not wait to go lie down now'' to'' open'' enjoying the end of summer until I go to train in Chile in speed for a couple of weeks. "
