Saalbach-Hinterglemm is a candidate to host the World 2023

Already last year, Saalbach-Hinterglemm was selected, beating off competition from St. Anton am Arlberg, Austrian as a candidate for the World Alpine Ski subsequent to 2021. Wednesday, of the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) chose to compete already for the first issue still to be allocated, that of 2023.

For Austria it would umpteenth largest winter sports event in the space of a decade: after the World Championships in Alpine skiing World 2013 in Schladming, those snowboard and freestyle in Kreischberg in 2015 and those of bobsled in Igls in 2016, Hochfilzen and the same fact Igls will host the 2017 World Cup biathlon and luge respectively, while in Seefeld will host the Nordic ski World Championships 2019. to all of this could follow a Innsbruck Olympic bid for the 2026 Games. Saalbach-Hinterglemm hosted the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1991, edition, which, among other things, consecrated the talent of a then very young Stephan Eberharter, winner of two gold medals.
