A world of grass skiing with lots of blue. If the first day in the Czech Republic, on the Stitna Nad Vlari track, had seen the national team led by Fausto Cerentin take home two silvers with Edoardo Frau and Daniele Buio in the absolute and junior giants, today the slalom dedicated only to the youngest have enriched the Italian home medal table.
In particular, the men's test saw an exceptional Filippo Zamboni triumph: dominating season for the talent from Trentino and junior world gold in his pocket, at the end of a race dominated by the 20-year-old under the Campiglio Ski Team. Already in the lead at the end of the first heat, Zamboni preceded the hosts Filip Machu, already second halfway through the race (at + 0 ”34), by half a second, and Jan Borak third at + 0” 61. Just 5 cents from the bronze Daniele Buio, third after the first and mocked by the two Czechs. Good placings in the Italian team also for Andrea Iori, sixth, Michael Bertagno (10th), Pettini, Libardoni, Pasini and Milesi in order from 12th to 16th position.
On the other hand, the final of the women's slalom for the Italian national team was bitter: Ambra Gasperi, already at the foot of the podium yesterday in the giant, was in the lead after the 1st heat, but a fatal mistake made her slip, more than 7 seconds from winner, up to sixth place between Federica Milesi, in the end the best blue in fifth position, and Federica Libardi (7th).
Japan won again, but this time Marino Haeda rejoiced, triumphing with just 9 hundredths of a margin over the Czech Alena Vesela and 1 ”13 over his compatriot Mitsuki Hosoda.
The grass ski world championships will continue on Thursday with the dispute of the super-g, both at the senior level and among the juniors.
