Margherita Mazzoncini, thanks to her second place today, is back on a World Cup podium with a great performance in the women's super-g that closed the inaugural stage of the maximum circuit on the Rettenbach track, in Austria.
The 25-year-old Venetian from Sospirolo closed the first specialty race of the year with a time of 32 ”77, 39 cents behind the winner, the Czech Aneta Koryntova. Third position went to the other Czech Sarka Abrhamova, who came to 74 cents from her teammate.
Antonella Manzoni closed in the top ten (ninth), overtaking the other two blue Ambra Gasperi and Federica Libardi, respectively 11th and 14th after yesterday's good result in giant (seventh and sixth).
The Swiss Mirko Hueppi was the winner of the men's race, setting the clock on a time of 30 ”78. Behind him the Czech Martin Bartak, yesterday ruler in the giant, at just 5 cents, and the German Marcel Knapp at 7 cents: a very tight race. Fourth position, after the second place in the giant of the first day of competitions in Rettenbach, for the blue Lorenzo Gritti who finished just 14 cents and ahead of Filippo Zamboni, fifth.
Daniele Buio also finished in the top ten, ninth, in front of his national team mates Nicolò Schiavetti 11th, Alex Galler 15th, Roberto Cerentin 17th, Michael Bertagno 22nd, Nicholas Anziutti 23rd, Nicolò Pettini 24th and Otto Pasini 26th.
