The cool king of the Streif has undergone an MRI in Innsbruck and he was diagnosed with a herniated disc resulting in forced operation. Consequently, the Salzburg has already finished its season and will have to bid farewell to the Games in Sochi for which had just been summoned.
"The diagnosis is clear and the operation is inevitable. Health is important and I do not want to finish my career here even if it means saying goodbye to the Olympic dream, "said Reichelt.
"Hannes is in the form of his life and is very bitter but health comes first. We wish him a speedy recovery and a quick return, "says the great chief of the Austrian ski Hans Pum. The next medical bulletin will be issued no earlier than tomorrow morning.
