During the FIS Congress in Barcelona last June, the Committee of alpine skiing has proposed a new format, the so-called & ldquo; sprint race & rdquo ;, now & egrave; ready to be tested in the European Cup this season. This was announced by the official website of the International Ski Federation.

The new format & egrave; consists of three rounds, the first & egrave; a qualification from which the top 30 athletes advancing to the finals, consisting of a semi-final (best of 30 qualifiers) and a final (best of 15 semi-final) on a shorter route, about 30 seconds for the slalom and the giant 50 seconds . This format will allow & agrave; the best of gareggiarere twice in a short period of time, hoping that everything & ograve; increases the fun and entertainment for the spectators and viewers. & nbsp;
Sar & agrave; the resort & agrave; thirty Pozza di Fassa to host the December 19 first slalom in three heats, which will replace & agrave; the classic men's night slalom on the well-known Alloch track, the race will & agrave; broadcast live on TV. The results of the sprint races will count towards the ranking of events or giant slalom for the European Cup and the FIS points will be awarded to all athletes who finish the qualifying heats. After the season 2014/15 the 'outcome of the new format will & agrave; evaluated and will be installed & agrave; a decision as to whether to introduce the format in the calendars of the following season.
